What is Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)?

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a type of regenerative medicine therapy that harnesses the body's natural ability to restore and amplify the innate healing process. This therapy uses injections of a patient's platelets to accelerate the healing of damaged areas in the body such as tendons, muscles, ligaments and joints.

What is Plasma?

Plasma is the liquid portion of blood that transports red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets throughout the entire human body. Plasma is composed of mostly water and proteins.

What are Platelets?

Platelets are blood cells that play a major role in the body's natural healing process. These cells cause blood clots that are essential for the body's healing functions.

What is the Process?

To prepare for the PRP injections, a medical professional will draw the patient's blood and place it into a machine that will separate the platelets from the plasma. Once the process is completed, our interventional specialists will inject the patient's own platelet-rich plasma into the injured or diseased area.

This can all be performed in our office at Invictus Healthcare System

How Long Will it Take to See Results?

Patients will begin to see results in as little as 2-6 weeks depending on their condition.

The side effects of PRP injections are limited due to the injections coming from the patient's own blood.
