The Importance of Getting an MRI: Part Two

Getting an MRI is not as scary as it sounds! Let’s be honest—no one wants to get an MRI. But if you’ve been dealing with pain, weird symptoms, or an injury that just won’t heal, it might be exactly what you need to finally get answers.

Here’s why an MRI is actually a great move:

1. It sees what other tests miss.  MRIs give super clear images of your body’s soft tissues—like muscles, joints, discs, and nerves. If something’s off, it’ll catch it.

2. It can help you avoid guessing games.  Instead of trying treatment after treatment, an MRI can show exactly what’s going on so your provider knows the best way to help you feel better, faster.

3. No radiation. No pain.  MRIs don’t use any radiation, and the whole thing is completely non-invasive. You just lie still for a bit while the machine does its thing.

4. Peace of mind.  Sometimes, the best thing an MRI gives you is clarity. Whether it confirms a diagnosis or rules something out, you’ll leave knowing more than when you walked in.

The short-bore MRI machine at Invictus is designed to be more comfortable (and less claustrophobic!).  It does not hurt at all. The scan lasts anywhere between twenty and forty minutes.  If you are claustrophobic, we offer sedation, so you can be at peace during the MRI. Lastly, It’s a little loud in there. So we offer earplugs and headphones and can play any kind of music or station you’d like.  At Invictus, we do all we can to make this a pleasant experience so call us at (918) 994-4000 or visit invictushealthcaresystem.com to schedule.
