About the event

In order to combat a prevalent disease in the Hispanic community, Invictus Healthcare System is offering a free, informative educational seminar about diabetes on Wednesday, August 22, 2018.

What: Hispanics are the largest ethnic minority in the United States. They accounting for 18 percent of the total population and expected to double by 2060. According to the National Healthcare Disparities Report, 35 percent of Latinos reported problems in receiving the medical care that they need. The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation estimates that Latinos experience 30 to 40 percent poorer health outcomes than white Americans. This data confirms how race and ethnicity heavily influence a patient’s access to basic health needs and health insurance. The Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) conducted a survey to assess the differences in access to healthcare between Hispanics and non-Hispanics.
